Involving residents in the process of developing a community development strategy is a key element in ensuring that the real needs and expectations of citizens are taken into account. In the case of the Pereshchepynska community, the active participation of residents in the survey allowed us to collect unique ideas and assess the current state of the community. This was made possible within the framework of the project “Strengthening Democratic Processes in Territorial Communities”, implemented by the Centre for Innovations Development, and allowed us to develop an effective Community Development Strategy.
In the spring of this year, a survey of community residents was conducted, which was open to everyone. The survey involved 51 residents and collected 15 project ideas covering various areas of community development. The gender analysis showed that the majority of survey participants were women (82.4%), and the age structure was quite diverse: the largest share of respondents were residents aged 36 to 50 (39.2%).

The assessment of various areas of community development showed that the availability/accessibility of recreational facilities (62.7% of respondents indicated that they were unsatisfactory) and employment conditions (56.9% considered them unsatisfactory) require the most attention. At the same time, the performance of healthcare facilities and the business environment received positive assessments, with 43.1% and 41.2% of respondents respectively considering these areas to be well developed.
In terms of project ideas, residents proposed a number of specific initiatives, such as parks improvement, creation of a sports complex, modernisation of water supply and sewage systems, development of cycling, and introduction of calendar fairs. The ideas were categorised by key themes, including safety, environment, business development, urbanism, quality of life and good governance.

These results became the basis for the development of the Pereshchepynsk Community Development Strategy, which focuses on the improvement of public spaces, entrepreneurship, environmental improvement and social support for residents.
