Strengthening the financial capacity of MSMEs and economic recovery of Ukraine’s regions

The full-scale war waged by Russia against Ukraine has caused significant economic losses to the regions, especially to small and medium-sized enterprises, which are key drivers of local development.

The Innovation Development Centre is launching the project “Strengthening the financial capacity of MSMEs and regional economic recovery through cluster development” as part of the “Transformative Recovery for Human Security in Ukraine” project, funded by the Government of Japan and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine.

Project objective:

To stimulate economic recovery in four regions of Ukraine – Kharkiv, Kyiv, Odesa and Vinnytsia oblasts – through the development of cluster initiatives. This involves effective interaction between businesses, local authorities and stakeholders to improve competitiveness and increase access to finance.

As part of the project, we will:

  • Conduct a detailed cluster analysis of the economies of these regions to identify promising clusters with the greatest potential for sustainable development.
  • Establish cooperation between businesses and authorities to create strategic partnerships and improve the business environment.
  • We will prepare recommendations for regional authorities and business communities on financial support, regional branding, and improved access to finance.
  • We will contribute to the creation of new jobs and the development of an innovative business environment by intensifying cooperation between enterprises and implementing modern solutions.

The project will help to identify promising business clusters, improve access to finance, create new partnerships and develop a regional branding strategy that will help attract investment and economic growth.

The project involves active engagement with local businesses, regional authorities and stakeholders to co-create solutions that will help restore economic stability and ensure the long-term development of the regions.

The project is being implemented by the United Nations Development Programme in Ukraine as part of the “Transformative Recovery for Human Security in Ukraine” project, funded by the Government of Japan and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine.
