The Pereshchepynska territorial community of Dnipro Oblast has been recognised as one of four communities in Ukraine that will receive expert support in adapting local recovery strategies and projects with the support of the USAID Democratic Governance in Eastern Ukraine project, implemented by the Centre for Innovation Development.
By participating in this project, the Pereshchepynska community opens up opportunities to receive funding and professional expertise to develop a modern Community Development Strategy and a package of project activities for its implementation.
The project was launched on 21 March 2024 in Kyiv with the participation of the Pereshchepynska community working group at the expert event “Strengthening democratic processes at the local level during the war”. The working group includes representatives of local authorities, the public, business and internally displaced persons.
The second half of the event was devoted to preliminary preparations for the development of a Community Development Strategy, taking into account the specifics of the community, and included work with project experts. on 10 April 2024, an online consultation was held between the Pereshchepynska community working group and project experts.
The result of this work was the development of a detailed implementation plan for project implementation, identification of problems and priority areas for strategic development, and preparation of a questionnaire for a survey of community residents.
As part of the project, the Pereshchepynsk community will be able to implement measures for effective local recovery and sustainable development. It is planned to hold an ideation event to generate ideas for community development projects, develop an Implementation Plan for the Community Development Strategy based on proposals from the public, business, youth, and taking into account the interests of vulnerable groups.

“A development strategy is a conceptual document that contains a vision of the future and development directions. In addition, for the Pereshchepynska community, having a well-developed Strategy is extremely important for attracting investors or grant funds. This document gives an advantage and creates a positive impression of donors or investors, proves the seriousness of our intentions, and will contribute to economic growth, increase the competitiveness of the community and, ultimately, improve the quality of life of our residents. With the help of the experts from the Innovation Development Centre, we will be able to develop a really high-quality document with the participation of the public, residents, local businesses, using the tools of participatory democracy, transparent and effective decision-making,” commented Iryna Shumkova, specialist of the organisational and personnel department of the Pereshchepynska territorial community.
